Pen and Ink

So the latest assignment was to complete a "Pen and Ink" drawing of a local building. I definitely found this harder than using charcoal at first because of the seemingly final characteristics of pen. However, it was nice on the rendering side when this seemed to go much quicker than charcoal. All in all I think it came out okay and it was a nice change of pace from charcoal.

Jack

Here is my attempt at Jack Nicholson. I wanted to show the progression in the drawing and the picture I used to complete the drawing. I used the grid process in this drawing by applying a grid to both my paper and the picture itself and then working step by step in the transfer process.

I still think that I need to work on my subtle shading but I'm definitely happy with how it turned out.

Female Head Drawing

Here is the latest homework from my foundations course. I think it turned out okay but after looking at things I think I need to re-work some of the proportions. It looks like some length in the face is needed as well as a little more rounding on the top right portion of the head. Thoughts?

Torso

Here is my first crack at the female torso. In the FND 110 course we're given a miniature (kinda close to full scale) female torso sculpture to draw. Comments? Suggestions?

First Drawings at the Academy

Here are some of my drawings from the first half of the semester of my 'Analysis of Form' (FND 110) course. I put them in the order they were completed (first assignment to most recent). I can definitely see improvement and feel like I'm learning a lot from the Academy of Art. I have to admit I was concerned about taking classes online (especially art classes), but it has been awesome so far! I'm currently working on my female torso drawing, I'll post it when it is done. Let me know what you think and areas for improvement.
